Planned obsolescence: LG launches a range of upgradable home appliances

South Korean manufacturer LG wants to combat planned obsolescence by offering a new range of upgradable home appliances this year. This means that it will be possible to upgrade them, both hardware and software, without systematically purchasing a new one.

LG offers these new devices upgrade options depending on the habits and lifestyle of each. For a dryer this means, for example, software updates for new programs or the addition of new accessories for specific fabrics. For its part, an air purifier will be able to get a new filter that specializes in collecting animal hair and dander when a dog or cat comes to join the family.

The idea is to always offer more practicality and comfort without necessarily having to change models. This allows you to keep your devices longer in any case. LG plans to launch about twenty new upgradeable products this year.
