Covid-19: wearing a mask in transport is almost over

It had remained mandatory in the metro, bus, train, plane and taxisBut from Monday 16 May, the mouth cap will no longer be mandatory in public transport. A lifting of the restriction announced by the Minister of Health.

The sunny days are back and with this heat it can be difficult to wear a mask on public transport. But good news for those who no longer support it, you can now remove it starting early next week. This lifting of the restriction expected by a large number of French women and men comes after an improvement in the epidemic situation in the territory.

The announcement was made this Wednesday, May 11, by Olivier Véran at the end of the government’s last Council of Ministers: “The number of daily new diagnoses is decreasing and we no longer believe it is appropriate to maintain this obligation.”

This measure was one of the last to be in place in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, if wearing a face mask in public transport is no longer mandatory, it will remain recommended, Prime Minister Jean Castex said.
