“Mai à vélo” returns to let you pedal as much as possible for a month

The second edition of “Mai à vélo” will take place from May 1 to May 31, 2022. On this occasion, fun events and numerous walks and hikes will be organized throughout the territory, around the practice of cycling as a means of transport, as a leisure activity or as a sport . Mark your calendars!

Stimulated by the Ministries of Ecological Transition and Sport and numerous associations, this year this event should gather more than 3,000 events spread across France. On the program are walks, competitions, initiations, workshops or even bike fairs.

Among the events already highlighted by the organizers are a whole series of awareness-raising actions for students of the Cézanne secondary school in Aix-en-Provence, the organization of a car-free day on May 1 in Villeneuve-Loubet (Alpes-Maritimes ), bike rides in the Ballons des Vosges Regional Natural Park, a mechanical workshop organized on May 4 by the mobility union Touraine, or the festival “Les Vieilles Pédales” in Chartres, May 14 and 15. The latter’s poster features concerts, walks, exhibitions and repair workshops.

Finally, from May 27 to 29, the sports and urban bike show “Vélo in Paris” will take place at the Parc Floral in Paris.

A challenge to pedal as much as possible

In addition to these events, Geovelo has also started a challenge to cover as many kilometers as possible during the month, of course based on the trips made with the special application. It is already possible for communities, companies, schools and associations to register.

In 2021, more than 1,580 events were organized during the last edition of “Mai à vélo”, representing a total of more than 5 million kilometers travelled.
