VIDEO. This cabin is made from recycled windows

Want to build the cocoon of your dreams without putting all your savings into it? House in kit form, in cardboard, in interlocking bricks… You are always more numerous and more numerous to redouble your imagination to make the project of your life concrete. Example with this couple who created an ultra-light and eco-friendly cabin thanks to some recycled windows.

Do you want to get started with DIY but you have no inspiration? Here is an original, sustainable and ecological house that can give you ideas. In the United States, Nick Olson, a crafts photographer, and Lilah Horwitz, a textile designer, dreamed of an upcycled habitat, that is, one built with recycled materials. It is therefore natural that they have traveled the state of West Virginia in search of rare pearls.

For months, the couple hunted for dozens of dilapidated windows and old frames. Goal ? Create a facade that is completely open to nature. These openings unearthed at flea markets and antique shops were then assembled into a giant mosaic. This original structure allows them to enjoy a huge skylight and a breathtaking view of the forest.

“Every window has a story. As an artist, I’ve learned over time that if you have an idea, you can always find a way to execute it.”

Nick Olson, Cabin Spirit

In total, the construction of this beautiful building in recycled materials cost them only 500 dollars (476 euros). The “window cabin” is built at the base of a meadow and pond, very close to the West Virginia forest. An idyllic place, witness these images:
