Switzerland celebrates its first same-sex marriages

Voted by referendum on September 26, marriage has been officially legal for everyone in Switzerland since July 1. The Swiss adopted it at 64%, recalls to miss and all cantons voted in favor of the adoption of this new law.

Switzerland is one of the last countries in Europe to legalize same-sex unions, almost 10 years after France and 17 years after Spain. It is also the thirty-first state in the world to recognize the union between two people of the same sex.

Same-sex adoption legalized

“We are aware that there is a section of the population who voted against marriage for everyone and we hope that we will be able to live our lives simply and just like everyone else”confides to the female media Xavier, who married her husband as soon as the law came into force, that is, on July 1.

Thanks to this new law, couples of women or couples of men now have the right to adopt children.
