To participate in preserving local crafts and returning its rightful place to the French textile industry, in 2016 Sylvain Gatt created Made In France, his online store with clothes and accessories made in France. His ambition? To offer simple and comfortable models, which emphasize both the wearers and the know-how of the craftsmen, embroiderers and artists behind these creations. And to allow you to create your own textiles, the brand even offers a customization tool on its website. Light up this blue, white, red project!
Who are you and what do you do?
I am Sylvain, the creator of the Made in France brand. I have a background in IT first, then trading with direct sales to private individuals and finally in the web creating and selling websites. These different experiences gave me the idea of sell ready-to-wear on the internet† Not wanting my clothes to be made on the other side of the world, I turned to French manufacturing.
Can you introduce us? Made in France †
The 2013 collapse of Rana Plaza in Bangladesh, killing more than a thousand, made me realize the chance to live in a country like France which offers working conditions, fortunately far from those countries. This was the beginning of my thought to be able to manufacture my clothing collection in France in good conditions.
Back in 2014 I started putting these ideas on paper and reserving my first domain name. In 2015 I toured France to find my partner workshops and finally in 2016 it was the launch of the collection and the site. The first collection offered the timeless and basics of our wardrobes: t-shirt, polo shirt, sweatshirt, shirt† After that, the collection expanded rapidly to offer the maximum number of ready-to-wear products and accessories, made in France.
Do you offer other types of services on your site?
We give our customers the opportunity to: customize the marking of t-shirts, polo shirts or sweatshirts with the visuals, photos, texts or logos of their choice. It is an ideal and unique gift for loved ones or employees. For private individuals, you should go directly to the configurator available on our site, and for professionals, it is best to contact us by e-mail for preferential rates.
Why did you decide to embark on this adventure?
I have created and sold ecommerce sites for my professional clients. This experience, these ideas, I naturally put at my service by launching my own site. With Made in France I want to show that it is so possible to produce in Francein workshops near us, beautiful clothes for the same price as the big brands.
