Climate: Monday, almost 30 scientists will go to the Assembly to train the new deputies

Until our elected officials are properly trained in ecology, they cannot take the measures imposed by climate change and the collapse of biodiversity. This observation is shared by more and more scientists and ecologists. And among them we find in particular the collective of students “For an ecological awakening” that has decided to take action. From Monday, the day after the second round of the parliamentary elections, the collective will send nearly 30 scientists to welcome new and new deputies to give them express training. explanation.

This operation will take three days. Why such an initiative? On its Facebook page, the collective explains:

“The next mandate will be decisive in reducing France’s ecological impact and the delegates will be at the center of the action: financial accounts, revision of the national low-carbon strategy, energy and climate programming law… Ecology must be everywhere and requires MPs to be trained in the seriousness of environmental problems and ready to tackle them.”

My IPCC report is fresh…unlike in years to come! From Monday to next Wednesday we will…

Convinced of the need to train our elected officials on these issues, the collective has therefore decided to send a cohort of scientists to welcome new and newly elected officials.

“They’re going to train them in ecological emergencies, during thirty-minute sessions. The aim is to convey the scientific consensus that justifies the urgency to act in all sectors, regardless of the political side.

But that is not everything :

“As the icing on the cake, they can leave with a ten-point summary for each of the parts of the latest #IPCC report, prepared by your collaborators and validated by the French authors of the IPCC!”

Faced with an emergency situation, an original approach. Let’s hope MPs play along and listen
