Carrefour experiments with vegetable corner in traditional butcher shop

Carrefour is taking the next step towards plant-based food. The French retail giant has opened a vegetable corner in the butchery department of Carrefour Carré Sénart. In addition to meat of animal origin, products of the Vegetarian Butcher brand are offered there. A first in France. “Bringing these two types of products together simplifies the purchasing process for our customers who want to make their plates greener. The second big first is that Carrefour is the first major brand to bring these delicious products to the market that Burger King has already conquered.”says Carrefour on its various social networks.

This initiative is currently being tested and is part of Carrefour’s #ActforFood programme, which aims to make the food transition accessible to all. After the launch and expansion of the vegetarian Carrefour Veggie range, the group was the first supermarket to market exclusively vegan products under the La Vie brand.
