Hi Mike, any standard coving (there are many options from expanded polystyrene to plaster & gypsum based products) will be absolutely fine. More important is to ensure it is well fixed, and that you use a good quality bathroom paint to resist mildew etc.

Thanks guys. Just wasn't sure with the humidity and all that, that the adhesive would last etc. Didn't want the coving falling off!

I noticed that too. I've got some in the kitchen but not in the bathroom or ensuite. Thought it could do with moisture.

As Pugley says, it's probably all down to the cost of the property when it was built. I have a standard victorian terraced house with coving in the lounge, second lounge, main bedroom and part of the downstairs hallway. When I work in properties in the more "upmarket" area of town, I find coving absolutly everywhere and in the most amazing designs.

Contact you local 'Timber Center' or 'Builder Center', they do 3.6 metre lengths (less joins), they are far cheaper and they will deliver for free.

How to make a corner out of a cove?

Create an outside corner by folding the cove molding and measure where the corner falls. Mark the corner on the back of the molding. Fold the molding so that the outside edges face in, exposing the mark you made in the center of the fold. Slice off about half the width of the molding at the mark using a utility knife. This helps the molding fit tightly and seamlessly to an outside corner when you fold it around the corner.
