A child survives 18 hours in a snow storm thanks to the help of a stray dog

This is a huge relief for little Viktoria’s family. After spending 18 hours in the winter cold, this little girl was found safe and sound, cuddled with a stray dog.

Without this animal the worst could have happened. The incidents took place on Thursday, January 13, 2022, on the island of Sakhalin, in Russia. That day, a major snow storm hit the region, disrupting road and air traffic. When she came back from school, little Viktoria, ten years old, got lost under this thick white coat. Because she couldn’t find her way home anymore, she wandered around for several hours in extreme conditions (0°C).

When she did not see her daughter return, her mother immediately warned authorities to issue a search warrant. And the more the hours passed, the more the hope of finding the child alive diminished, as police officer Anatoly Ivanov explains to the Siberian times: “We could barely stretch our fingers under our gloves. What are the chances that a young girl will survive such a nightmare? »

And finally, after 18 hours of searching, the good news came: Viktoria was found alive 800 meters from her home. She was in the yard of a building with a stray dog. Thanks to this animal, the little girl survived in the middle of a snow storm.

“I was constantly cuddling the dog to warm me up. »
