This tunnel is in fact a railway line, nestled among lush trees in northwestern Ukraine, in Klevan, about 200 kilometers from the Polish and Belarusian borders. But this dreamy path led to a Soviet military base in the time of the Cold War. The trees planted there made it possible to hide this strategic entrance at the time. Time has passed and the trees have grown, allowing them to create this impressive plant tunnel effect, nicknamed “tunnel of love”, thanks to their branches.
Like Paris at its “bridge for lovers”, this rural path, according to legend, is said to provide couples with the opportunity to make a wish. If their feelings are sincere, it is said that their wish can be granted… Today, a train still runs on these rails to supply a wood factory.
