So I took receipt of my hardwood worktops a couple of months ago and stored them using the advice from this great forum. I unwrapped, oiled and cut them several cm "too big" just so I could roughly place them in position. Both worktops are too wide and would need ripping down by 20 or 40 mm.
wiggy Screwfix Select
As you say move the small away from the wall giving 20mm and also move the large away from the wall giving 20mm.

You have another option but it is far more radical and quite possibly unacceptable on that basis however.... Swap one of the units for a slightly smaller one on the long run! Some kitchens have some door sizes in 50mm increments - you could even modify the unit and just swap the door. There can't be many situations where 'the wife' would be thrilled at something being 2" shorter, but this might just be one of them....

If you have the upstands to cover the gap then I’d trim the back worktop (assuming your wall is straight). The only problem I can see is that you’d then be left with a small gap at the open end as the picture faces us. I guess a small offcut plus some filler and sanding might just let you get away with that.

It appears that water has found its way into the join on my laminated kitchen worktop. When I fitted it about 6 months ago the joint was flush, now there is a slightly raised portion about 2" long and the raised part has faint bumps along its length where I can only imagine it has swollen unevenly. What I intend doing is this.
Deluks
Almost impossible to sort this out, you're best off just leaving it, maybe run a bead of silicone over the joint to prevent from further damage. Are you sure it's not heat related?
Scrit
Deluks is absolutely right. Once a composite worktop is blown then it cannot be repaired.
trazor
You do have a chance of repairing this, but only if it is possible to separate your joint without further damage.Others on here will tell you your chance of doing this, I have no idea.

Just thought I would post this as a tip for anyone who has this problem with a laminated plastic worktop that is flush joined with no metal strip between.
