What is the firem’N Chit?
Earning the Firem’n Chit is one of your first steps toward becoming the best scout you can be! While scouts are known for camping and treating the wilderness with respect, every scout needs to learn outdoor safety. The Firem’n Chit will teach you the principles for safe fire use in the wilderness!
Where do the patrol patches go?
Patrol Patches go directly below the American Flag patch. This patch should be centered on the left sleeve and the bottom of the patch should be 4” from the top of the shoulder seam.
What is the right pocket placement of the patch?
These patches are worn directly on the right pocket flap and are the only approved patch to be worn in this location. The right pocket placement is also known as the temporary patch location.

What happens if you lose your Totin Chip?
If a Scout lost all four corners of his Totin' Chip (essentially a Scout's license to carry pocketknives, axes and saws), his blade-carrying privileges were revoked until he re-earned the card. It's all part of Boy Scouting's well-reasoned approach to teaching boys to see pocketknives, axes and saws as tools, not toys.
