If I recall right, the 026 was made in the early to mid 1990's and the 026 PRO came in a few years later when the decomp valve became popular. The PRO version also has a slightly bigger engine but the case is virtually identical. Most of the time a PRO will cost you about $50 more. I have a pair and one backs up the other. Both run like bandits and are my favorite firewood saws. I paid less for both of them added together than one new MS261.
