I worked for a company that booked government freight from the many bases it the area. (Stockton, calif). I was one of 3 owner operators. We would pickup loads and bring them to the warehouse in Stockton. The loads went all over the country. They would consolidate the loads usually 3 shipments.

A small company of 5 drivers told me while I was sitting in the dock waiting to get unloaded in Littlerock.I called Jeff the owner and asked him what my next load is and he said this is your last load.I got silent and said why what did I do.He said nothing i'm closing because he couldn't afford the insurance .So I deadheaded all the way back to Lemars Iowa and I did get paid and also filed for unemployment which I also received..
