Well, it depends on where in So. Cal you will be living! If you live in the warmer zones, almost any tropical fruit will grow, you will have to water them well in the summer... In the cooler ones... well, maybe guavas and the less tropical fruits... but you can do what I do and keep them in pots to move around during the winter.
