what size tile is best for herringbone pattern

by Curt Erdman Published 3 years ago Updated 2 years ago

Herringbone pattern only works with tiles where the longest side is relatively divisible by the shortest side + grout width. A 3 x 12 tile works best. However, a 3×6, 4×12, or other variations will work, but look slightly different. With any pattern, especially intricate ones, use tile spacers.

Choose a classic 2 x 4 or 3 x 6 size for a traditional look. Or try a 2 x 8 size for a herringbone pattern that shows off its wild side. For a more contemporary look go for a slightly cooler neutral, such as a light gray.
