What is a coolant bypass valve? The heater bypass tube is a cooling system component found on many road going cars and trucks. The coolant bypass tube provides a passage for minimum coolant flow, so that the engine does not overheat from insufficient cooling when the thermostat is closed and restricting coolant flow.
What is the purpose of a coolant bypass valve?
How do you replace a bypass hose?
- Jack up the front of the car and lower it onto jack stands below the two front tires. Place a drain pan under the radiator drain valve.
- Use a screwdriver to loosen the bypass hose clamps and remove the hose.
- Install a new hose and tighten the clamps.
What is the function of an oil cooler bypass valve?
The bypass valve – otherwise known as a pressure relief valve – is an integral part of the oil filter. The valve is designed to open when the oil filter becomes clogged or when the oil is too thick. This allows the oil to bypass the filter through a center tube. The oil then goes straight to the engine to prevent starvation and damage.

Why does coolant to go in IAC valve body?
Why does coolant go through the throttle body? More than likely it's not flowing through the IAC, but rather around the throttle body. In most cases this is done to keep the throttle plates from freezing when it's cold outside. The coolant running through there can provide a lot more heat than is normally available without it, even with a cold ...
Do you need a coolant bypass?
All engines that run a thermostat need to have some type of bypass provision to avoid localized hot spots, minimize the chance of steam pockets developing, promote even and rapid warm-up, and prevent water-pump cavitation.Mar 31, 2014
What is an engine coolant bypass valve?
This aftermarket-exclusive valve maintains a continuous flow of coolant through the engine block. Symptoms of a failed coolant bypass valve include small leaks and internal electronic failure, resulting in illumination of the check engine light. This part restores optimal vehicle performance.

Is it okay to run a car without a thermostat?
If you drive your car without a thermostat, it will run at 50 degree centigrade. When the car drives at this temperature, moisture or humidity will form. And when it is condensed, it will mix with oil and turn into slush (watery ice). This slush blocks out lubrication.Dec 7, 2018

What happens if I bypass my heater core?
You basically take the two hoses off the heater core, you stick them together and you're done. That way, the coolant will continue to circulate, even though it no longer goes through the heater core. And bypassing the heater core should have no effect at all on the performance of the engine, Charles.Sep 8, 2017

I was looking at my intake manifold and water pump and I am trying to figure out the purpose of the bypass. Seems worthless to me. What does it actually bypass being that it is below the thermostat. I see that the "race" water pumps don't have the outlet that goes to the bypass. Looks like you could block of the bypass and still be fine.

It allows the water to bypass the thermostat when it is closed. Without a bypass you could have a super size air pocket traped in the engine when filling the coolant system. Also relieves back pressure on the pump when the thermostat is closed.
