No. Soil level refers to the amount of dirt or grime on clothes, while water level refers to the specific amount of water in the washing machine at a given time. Some Maytag ® front-loading washing machines feature automatic load size indicators that determine washer water levels for you, making the laundry process that much simpler.
What does soil level mean on a Maytag washing machine?
Thereof, what is the soil level on a washing machine mean? Many washing machines have a soil level feature that allows users to indicate the amount of soil or dirt on clothes to be washed and adjust the cycle accordingly. Additionally, how does Maytag washer work?
What are the different soil levels in a washing machine?
The soil levels are typically "Light," "Normal" and/or "Heavy" and increase the cycle time and agitation depending upon the selected soil level, eliminating the need to presoak items prior to washing. Meredith Jameson writes early childhood parenting and family health articles for various online publications.
How do I use fresh hold® on my Maytag® front load washer?
On select Maytag ® front load washers, add the Fresh Hold ® option to intermittently tumble the load after the cycle ends. Start transferring clothes to the dryer as soon as possible.
Where do you put the detergent in a Maytag washer?
If using a detergent pod, place it in the bottom of the tub. Swash ® Laundry Detergent, recommended by Maytag brand 1, features a Precision Pour Cap that dispenses the detergent for you, so you only pour what you need. Use one squeeze for regular loads and two for large loads.
Soil Level Option
The recommended soil level is preset for each cycle. The Soil Level option allows you to select a Light, Normal, or Heavy soil level setting. Some preset soil levels can be changed. For heavily soiled and sturdy fabrics, select the Heavy soil level setting. For lightly soiled and delicate fabrics, select the Light soil level setting.

OPTIONS
You may add or remove options for each cycle. Not all options can be used with all cycles, and some are preset to work with certain cycles.
Why is there dirt in my washing machine?
If there is actually soil or dirt found in the washing machine tub, it is most likely due to dirt or mud that is brought into the machine on clothes or other items being washed that does not fully rinse away when the cycle is complete.
What is a clean washer?
Many high-efficiency washing machines offer a "Clean Washer" feature that is specifically designed to clean the tub and remove any dirt or residue. Place a washing machine cleaner tablet into the washing machine, and run a "Clean Washer" cycle. The cleaning tablets are available for purchase in many grocery or hardware stores.
Where to put He detergent?

Cleaning with Less Water
The most striking difference in this washer is the low-water washplate wash system (on some models). Most washers automatically adjust the water level to the load size; no water level selector is needed (on some models). For best performance, it is recommended to load items in loose heaps evenly around the washplate.
Automatic Load Size Sensing
Once you start the cycle, the lid will lock, and the washer will begin the sensing process to determine the correct water level for the load. Initially the basket will start to spin prior to adding water. This is part of the sensing process and is normal.
Choosing the Right Detergent
Use only High Efficiency detergents. The package will be marked “HE” or “High Efficiency.” Low-water washing creates excessive sudsing with a regular non-HE detergent. Using regular detergent will likely result in longer cycle times and reduced rinsing performance. It may also result in component failures.
Improved Cleaning
Low-water cleaning means concentrated cleaning. Rather than diluting detergent as done in an agitator-style washer, this washer delivers the detergent directly to the soils. This low water wash also allows the clothing to move in a more effective way to remove soils.
