Responsible Beverage Service training teaches servers to responsibly serve alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption and mitigate alcohol-related harm in California communities.

The bill required the Alcoholic Beverage Control to create the Responsible Beverage Service Training Program (RBSTP) to ensure servers and their managers of alcoholic beverages are educated on the dangers of serving alcohol to minors and over-serving alcohol to patrons with the intention of reducing alcohol-related harm to local communities.

Can a nonprofit organization receive RBS training?

How long is RBS training?

The LIQUORexam.com state approved California RBS (Responsible Beverage Service) training is just $8.95. This is a 2 hour course and students must pass the 25-question final exam with a score of 70% or better in order to receive their 3-year certification.

Is RBS training required?

Yes, effective July 1, 2022, RBS training is required by CA Assembly Bill 1221 and Assembly Bill 82. On-premises alcoholic beverage servers and their managers must successfully complete an ABC approved RBS training program and exam no later than August 31, 2022, or within 60 days of initial employment.

How do I get RBS certified?

RBS training and certification is a three-step process:Register with ABC as an alcohol server (this includes the managers of alcohol servers) on the RBS Portal.Take RBS training from an ABC Approved Training Provider.Take our alcohol server certification exam on the RBS Portal.

How long is the RBS certification good for?

3 yearsOnce you pass the exam from the state, the certificate they issue will be be good for 3 years. You will need to take the training and pass the exam every 3 years to keep your certification.
