What is the difference between P-state and C-state?

It’s important to recognize the differences between a P-state and a C-state. A P-state is a performance state while a C-state is an actual processor state. You could also say that a C-state is a idle state while the P-state is a state where the processor is actually operating, except for, of course, the C0 state.

What is the P state of a CPU?

Power performance states (ACPI P states) P-states provide a way to scale the frequency and voltage at which the processor runs so as to reduce the power consumption of the CPU. The number of available P-states can be different for each model of CPU, even those from the same family.

What is the P-state of a processor?

To operate at any P-state, the processor must be in the C0 operational state where the processor is working and not idling.” You might not see a noticeable change after switching your P-state, except in programs and applications that are very HPC (high performance computing) dependent.

What is the difference between P-state and Speed Shift?

P-states (up to Haswell/Broadwell) and Speed Shift (since Skylake) in comparison. During the execution of code, the operating system and CPU can optimize power consumption through different p-states (performance states). Depending on the requirements, a CPU is operated at different frequencies.

What is amd Pstate?

amd-pstate is the AMD CPU performance scaling driver that introduces a new CPU frequency control mechanism on modern AMD APU and CPU series in Linux kernel.

What is Pstate in BIOS?

Processors use Pstates (power-performance states) of different frequency and voltage for different load conditions: P0 – max power, voltage and frequency. P1 – less than P0. P2 – less than P1. . . .

How do I enable amd Pstate?

For Ubuntu/initramfs users wanting to have AMD P-State loaded by default, you can also add "amd_pstate" to the "/etc/initramfs-tools/modules " file followed by running update-initramfs -u.

What is C State and p-state?

Intel processors support multiple technologies to optimize the power consumption. In this article, we provide an overview of p-states (optimization of the voltage and CPU frequency during operation) and c-states (optimization of the power consumption if a core does not have to execute any instructions).

What is Mwait?

MWAIT instruction provides hints to allow the processor to enter an implementation-dependent optimized state. There are two principal targeted usages: address-range monitor and advanced power management. Both usages of MWAIT require the use of the MONITOR instruction.

Should I enable or disable C states?

C state is used for power saving and when you overclock you use the maximum power of the CPU, constantly. So you would not want to use c state. Disable both, also manual vcore always, adaptive might do some adjustments you don't want to happen. First off an overclocked processor does not use maximum power constantly.

Should I turn on turbo boost?

You should turn on your intel Turbo boost if you are using a desktop because that will easily boost your CPU clock speed to maximum. But if you are using a laptop where cooling is a problem then you might consider turning it off.

What are all the C-states?

The basic C-states (defined by ACPI) are:C0: Active, CPU/Core is executing instructions. ... C1: Halt, nothing is being executed, but it can return to C0 instantenously. ... C2: Stop-Clock, similar to C1 but it takes longer time to go back to C0.C3: Sleep.

How do I turn off C-states?

From the System Utilities screen, select System Configuration > BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU) > Power and Performance Options > C-State Efficiency Mode. Select one of the following: Enable. Disable.

What is the difference between a C and a P state?

It’s important to recognize the differences between a P-state and a C-state. A P-state is a performance state while a C-state is an actual processor state. You could also say that a C-state is a idle state while the P-state is a state where the processor is actually operating, except for, of course, the C0 state. Here’s what the different C-states do: 1 C0: This state is where the processor is actually running and taking instructions. 2 C1: This state is often referred to as a Halt state, largely because the processor stops executing instructions. But, it can still return to its executing state (C0) almost instantaneously. 3 C2: Referred commonly to as the Stop-Clock state, this is an optional state where all internal and external clocks are stopped through hardware. In this state, it might take longer for the processor to wake up and return to C0. 4 C3: This is another optional processor state where the CPU will stop all internal clocks. Many processors will have different variations of the C3-state, so the time it’ll take for the processor to return to the C0-state highly depends on the manufacturer of the hardware.

What state does a processor have to be in to operate at a P-state?

To operate at any P-state, the processor must be in the C0 operational state where the processor is working and not idling.”. You might not see a noticeable change after switching your P-state, except in programs and applications that are very HPC (high performance computing) dependent.

What is the final sleep state of the S4?

S4, referred to as Hibernation: The final sleep state is when your system goes into hibernation. This is when it’s in its lowest power setting, which also means it takes a long time to wake. Power is cut off from everything, including peripherals and any external hard drives.

What is the maximum power and frequency state?

These states can go from (P0, the highest performance state, all the way up to P16, depending on the manufacturer). P0 is the maximum power and frequency state, meaning P1 is a little less intensive than P0. That would make P2 less intensive than P1, and so on. Here’s how IBM explains it:

Is AMD a P state?

Not all processor manufacturers refer to a performance state as a P-state. Intel actually calls it SpeedStep (though this trademark expired in 2012), but AMD might call them PowerNow! or Cool’n’Quiet in their processors. SpeedStep (and other brands’ similar implementations) is, in essence a way to dynamically scale the processor’s P-states ...

Can you control sleep state in BIOS?

Once you’re in the BIOS, you’ll be able to edit your Sleep States under Power Management (this could be named something different, depending on the motherboard manufacturer). In most newer processors and new versions of Windows, a P-state cannot be manually controlled.

Where is the prostate located?

It rests below your bladder and in front of your rectum. It surrounds part of the urethra, the tube in your penis that carries pee from your bladder. The prostate helps make some of the fluid in semen, which carries sperm from your testicles when you ejaculate.

What is prostate screening?

Prostate Tests. Screening for Cancer. Many men aren't sure what their prostate is, what it does, or when to call a doctor if they think they might have a problem. So, information is the best tool you have in dealing with this aspect of men’s health.

What age can you get prostate cancer?

At age 50 for men with an average chance for prostate cancer. At 45 for men with a higher chance for the condition: this includes African-Americans and men who have a father, brother, or son who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer at 65 or younger. At age 40 for men who have more than 1 first-degree relative (father, brother, ...

How many men have enlarged prostates?

Some 8 out of every 10 men eventually develop an enlarged prostate. About 90% of men over the age of 85 will have BPH. About 30% of men will find their symptoms bothersome. If you have trouble starting to urinate or have to go a lot, especially at night, these could be signals that you have an enlarged prostate.

When should men talk to their doctor about prostate cancer?

This discussion should take place: At age 50 for men with an average chance for prostate cancer.

Can a high prostate level be a sign of cancer?

Higher levels may be a sign of cancer. By themselves, they are not proof you have prostate cancer. Higher levels could also point to an enlarged prostate or prostatitis. But, levels may be low even with men who have prostate cancer, so discuss the results with your doctor.

Does prostate grow as you age?

This Gland Can Grow. As you age, your prostate can become larger. It’s a normal part of aging for most men. By the time you reach age 40, your prostate might have gone from the size of a walnut to the size of an apricot. By the time you reach 60, it might be the size of a lemon. Continued.

What is the structure of the prostate?

Structure of the prostate. A capsule of connective tissue that contains muscle fibers surrounds the prostate. This capsule makes the prostate feel elastic to the touch. Scientists often categorize the prostate into four zones that surround the urethra like layers of an onion.

What are the layers of the prostate?

The following layers make up the prostate, beginning with the outer capsule and ending inside the prostate: 1 Anterior zone. Made of muscle and fibrous tissues, this zone is also called the anterior fibromuscular zone. 2 Peripheral zone. Mostly situated toward the back of the gland, this is where most of the glandular tissue sits. 3 Central zone. This surrounds the ejaculatory ducts and makes up around 25% of the prostate’s total mass. 4 Transition zone. This is the part of the prostate that surrounds the urethra. It is the only portion of the prostate that continues to grow throughout life.

What is the function of the prostate gland?

The prostate has various functions. The most important is producing seminal fluid, a fluid that is a component of semen. It also plays a role in hormone production and helps regulate urine flow.

What is the most common prostate problem in men over 50?

Enlarged prostate. An enlarged prostate , also known as benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH), is the most common prostate problem in males over 50. Most commonly, the enlargement occurs in the transition zone. When the prostate enlarges, it presses and pinches the urethra, narrowing the urethra tube.

What are the symptoms of prostate problems?

The most common include an inflamed prostate, an enlarged prostate, and prostate cancer. Symptoms of prostate trouble often appear as difficulty urinating, which might include poor bladder control or weak urine flow.

How many men have prostate cancer?

According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer in males after skin cancer. It affects around 1 in 9 males during their lifetime.

How long does prostate inflammation last?

It appears suddenly and clears up quickly with appropriate antibiotic treatment. When prostate inflammation lasts for longer than 3 months, it is known as chronic prostatitis, or chronic pelvic pain syndrome. This affects 10–15% of males in the U.S.

Dr. Futura

all 4 power plans work fine, they all clock down to 1.5GHz and clock up to 3.8GHz (my OC with FID 98) and give similar results in Cinebench (1600 up to 1645)

FID shouldn't be that high (if you are entering 4000 that is) and you must not set VID at all. The only way to recover from his is to reload a previous BIOS setup that you didn't touch the P-states on. Once you mess with that VID it's all over.

Hello sorry for the confusion, these are the settings that I have input into the BIOS:

What is the prostate specific antigen?

Prostate-specific antigen (PSA): The prostate makes a protein called PSA, which can be measured by a blood test. If PSA is high, prostate cancer is more likely, but an enlarged prostate can also cause a high PSA. Recommendations about whether or not a man should be screened and at what age differ.

What is prostate cancer clinical trial?

Clinical trials: Through prostate cancer clinical trials, researchers test the effects of new medications on a group of volunteers with prostate cancer. Prostatitis Treatment. Acute and chronic prostatitis: Depending on the type of prostatitis, treatment includes antibiotics, other medications, and/or surgery.

What is the best treatment for prostate cancer?

Hormone therapy helps block that effect. Chemotherapy: When prostate cancer is advanced, chemotherapy may help reduce the cancer’s spread. Watchful waiting: Since prostate cancer is often slow growing, some older men and their doctors hold off on treatment and wait to see if the cancer appears to be growing.

How do you kill prostate cancer cells?

Radioactive seed implants: Instead of radiation pointed at the prostate from outside the body, radioactive seeds can be implanted into the prostate to kill cancer cells. Cryotherapy: Cryotherapy involves killing prostate cancer cells by freezing them. Hormone therapy: Prostate cancer cells grow in response to hormones.

What is the best treatment for enlarged prostate?

Enlarged Prostate Treatment. Alpha-blockers: Alpha-blockers relax the muscles around the urethra in men with symptoms from an enlarged prostate. Urine then flows more freely. 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors : These medications reduce the level of a certain form of testosterone (DHT).

How many men die from prostate cancer?

Prostate cancer: It’s the most common form of cancer in men (besides skin cancer), but only one in 41 men die from prostate cancer. Surgery, radiation, hormone therapy, and chemotherapy can be used to treat prostate cancer. Some men choose to delay treatment, which is called watchful waiting.
