Yes, the information you are told is correct. At temperatures over 120°F the cool seal product can try to quickly and cause problems down the road with regards to peeling and cracking very easily. Try to apply this product on a warm day, however not a very hot day. Or try to aim for when there is not direct sunlight or it is overcast.

How often should I apply a kool seal?

Yes, I have personally used kool seal to cover metal roofs. You want to use a medium thickness when you spread the Kool seal over the roof. What fabric is used for roof coating?
A polyester fabric is used because it will stretch with the coatings. (Fiberglas fabric is not recommended.) Fabric is normally cut to extend three inches beyond the repaired area in all directions. The coating is applied to the roof surface and the fabric is immediately pushed into the wet surface.
