I use mine for scribing lines quite a bit
I have a cheapy one, but I use it to scribe lines when nothing has to be super accurate. It's good to scribe nice square lines for welding, and it can be a handy way to set cutters and stuff to the proper height. There's a bunch of interesting things you can do with them. I dunno, they still have their place.
