Are you sure it isn't something to do with the heating going off. I have recently had mine on pretty warm, and at night I often get funny ticks as the pipework contracts again back to it's cold state. Could happen with the floorboards too, as some spots seem to get very warm, although I'm not sure about this.

i've found that heating pipes and radiators cooling down can click in a regular way. Don't see why it would stop if you got up though, unless you were just hiding the noise by your movement.
