How safe is R9 fuel hose?

It can be seen that R9 fuel hose that has been DESIGNED to work with modern fuels has less than 3% of the permitivity of 1980s & 1990s fuel hose. It even out performs the "A1" (ISO 7840) hosing mandated for use in the MARINE environment, where they are hugely stringent about fire-safety.!

What is the working temperature of Sasae R14 hydraulic hose?

SAE 100 R14 hydraulic hose is suitable for delivering petroleum or water-based hydraulic fluids in the working temperature of -54 °C to +204 °C. This kind of hose can be divided into two kinds according to the structure and material: type A and type B. Type A is composed of tube and reinforcement.

Does fuel hose size matter?

Does size really matter when it comes to fuel lines? According to the fuel delivery system experts at Fuelab, it does. It's because fuel line size and length have a direct effect on the amount of fuel pressure drop your fuel system will experience.

What is the ID of 3/8 fuel line?

What hose can I use for diesel fuel?

The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) recommends the Type B1 fuel hose for diesel-based applications. The Type A1 hose is the best option for gasoline supply. This hose is less permeable, highly durable, heat resistant and does not collapse under high pressure or vacuum.

Is 3/8 fuel line big enough?

A 3/8”id fuel line can easily support 600 HP given sufficient “pump head”! Given a big enough pump a 3/8” steel line could support 1000 HP. The simple way to know is to install an electronic fuel pressure gauge. If the pressure falls as the engine RPM's go up you need more pump head.

What is best fuel line?

The best fuel line material depends on your needs. However, the best material for fuel lines is polytetrafluoroethylene or PTFE. PTFE fuel line is made of plastic material specifically known as Teflon. This fuel line material is impervious is resistant to the degenerative fuel effects which could form vapor barriers.

How are fuel fittings measured?

Place the top of a 1/4-inch wrench with an open end over the fuel line. Slide it carefully over the line so that it fits snugly against the tubing. Read the wrench's measurements to determine the diameter of the fuel line. Place a caliper over the fuel line if the wrench did not give an accurate reading.

Is regular fuel line OK for diesel?

Fuel line is a petroleum-resistant nitrile tube with a covering that resists weathering, ozone and heat and can be used for ethanol-laced fuels and diesel fuel. It should, however, not be used on coolant systems, oil systems or fuel-injection systems that produce pressures higher than 50 psi.

Does diesel fuel eat rubber?

Diesel does damages rubber. Diesel fuel may cause stripping of certain types of rubber hose, gradually perforating the fuel hose. Thus, it is strongly advised to make sure if the fuel hose to be installed is rated for diesel.

Is diesel fuel line different than gas fuel line?

Looks like all the same. Application: Designed for use with gasoline, methanol, ethanol, and diesel fuel in marine applications such as fuel filler neck, fuel tank vent and exhaust hose.

Are bigger fuel lines better?

Fuel line diameter matters A LOT! A larger diameter is generally better, but the correct diameter is the best choice. If the diameter is too small: you won't be able to support your horsepower goal. If the diameter is too big: the lines will take longer to pressurize.

Does fuel line size affect pressure?

Shows the relationship between measured pressure drop as a function of flow rate, for four different fuel lines (two different sizes at two different lengths). Every fuel line experiences pressure loss depending on fuel line length, and fuel flow rate.

How much horsepower will 5/16 fuel line support?

If you're just cruising around with a carbed SBC, you'll probably be fine with a 5/16" line up to about 500 HP because you'll never tax the system enough to starve the motor of fuel.

What type of fuel line should I use?

The best fuel line material depends on your needs. However, the best material for fuel lines is polytetrafluoroethylene or PTFE. PTFE fuel line is made of plastic material specifically known as Teflon. This fuel line material is impervious is resistant to the degenerative fuel effects which could form vapor barriers.

I’m looking for a supplier of sensibly priced fuel hose to SAE J30 R9 or R14 spec in 5/16” and 1/4” I.D.

Ben Hutchings

Ok thanks all. I have 5/16” from tank to regulator (via some copper pipe too), then 1/4” from regulator around engine bay and into carbs.

Well the stuff I got from Merlin (on Vitesse) is 4 years old now and still good. The Glencoe stuff (GT6) is maybe 2.5 years old and still good. So I'm content that it's either genuine or at least fit for purpose.

Ben Hutchings

I did wonder about the Cohline stuff having heard reports of fakes, but then as @roger keys infers, it’s not hard to print anything on anything if scammers want to.

Jason

Hard nylon or Teflon aerquip will be safe but remember, it is not compressible - no matter what clamp you put on it! So you need the correct and expensive fitings 🤔

Roger Keys

I've tried loads over the years and anything near the engine cracks on the outside for me. Eventually it starts to smell... I had to change some at the start of the 2018 RBRR when I noticed some was cracking. It was fine days before.
