Why is Ooma not working?

Verify that your Internet connection is functioning properly. Try rebooting your modem, router and/or Ooma Telo Base Station or Phone Genie to see if the network connection recovers.

Does Ooma work if Internet is down?

Since Ooma works over your Internet connection, you will need to call from a mobile phone if your Internet connection is down. If you're concerned about relying on your Internet for phone service, we've built the Ooma system to work with a landline back-up.

Does Ooma work without electricity?

If you're using the Ooma Hub system with a landline back-up and the power goes out, all the lights on your Ooma devices will turn off and your dialtone will revert to your local landline. With a line-powered phone, you'll be able to make and receive calls, but you may incur charges from your local phone company.

Why is my Ooma red?

Solid red logo likely means a hardware failure.

How do I reset my Ooma?

If your model Linx device has a reset button on the bottom of the unit, press and hold the button. If the device does not have a reset button, plug it in. Insert a paperclip into the pinhole next to the phone jack and hold it down for ten seconds until the system status light blinks amber.

Can you call without electricity?

If you have a “corded” phone, then yes your landline telephone will work during a power outage. If you have a “cordless” phone, then it will not work, because a cordless phone requires electricity to transfer the signal from the base to the handset.

How does Ooma make their money?

Ooma charges for the equipment upfront and charges maintenance fees from then on instead. This means they receive all of their profits from the initial purchase of their equipment. The Ooma business model might not be for everyone. Not every business service can charge 100% of their profits in an upfront purchase.

How do I reset Ooma after power outage?

How do I reconnect my Ooma?

Ensure that your Ooma Wireless + Bluetooth Adapter is plugged in all the way. Remove your adapter, reboot your Telo Base Station, and then re-insert the adapter. Move the Telo Base Station closer to your router or wireless access point to make sure it is not out of range.

What do I do if my computer is currently plugged directly into my modem?

The Ooma Telo Base Station or Phone Genie can function as a router, enabling your computer to access the Internet through the device. You’ll be able to set up your system by following the instructions in Option 2A in the Quick Start Guide. Wherever the instructions refer to your “router”, substitute the word “computer”.

The Ooma light on my Telo Base Station or Phone Genie is blinking red

The Ooma logo on the front of the Ooma Telo Base Station or Phone Genie will flash red when the device is not able to connect to the Ooma service. This may happen upon first use if the device has not been activated properly.

The 1 and 2 buttons on my Ooma Telo Base Station or Phone Genie are lit blue

If your Ooma device is offline and these lights are turned on, it means that your Ooma Telo Base Station or Phone Genie system is not able to connect to the Ooma Network.

The Trash and Message buttons on my Ooma Telo Base Station or Phone Genie are lit blue

If your Ooma device is offline and these lights are turned on, it means that your Ooma Telo Base Station or Phone Genie can’t connect to the Internet. Your first step should be to review the setup diagram in the Quick Start Guide that best matches the setup in your house.

The Play and Fast forward keys are lit blue

You should only experience this if you have chosen the option to use your Ooma with a landline backup. When your Ooma device is offline and the Play and Fast forward buttons are turned on, it means that your Ooma Telo Base Station or Phone Genie cannot detect a phone line connected the the system.

Incoming calls do not cause your phone to ring

There are several reasons that incoming calls may not cause your phone to ring. Here are some of the most common reasons why your phone might not ring:
