How can I reset the Ooma system?

  • Turn on router.
  • Press Factory Reset button and hold for at least 15 seconds.
  • Device restarts automatically.
  • Default settings have been restored.

1) Remove the power for the Ooma device. 2) Hold down the Ooma tab [blue light] and connect the power. Hold for 30 seconds until all the lights start flashing. Once the lights stop flashing, release the Ooma tab and the device will reset to factory settings.

After all the lights went out, as explained above in Step 4, I did press the Brightness button, and the center Logo light came on a solid Blue. I waited and waited... about 15 to 20 minutes, and nothing else happened.

If Tech Support is reading this thread, they seem to be ignoring the problem. That makes me very suspicious. Wonder what the real problem is....

My suspicions were correct. I was doing the procedure for the Factory Reset correctly, however, there is apparently a bug associated with this procedure. Finally, this morning I got the following email from an "Ooma source":

I had the same issue with the blue light staying on during a factory reset today. Phone support didn't know anything about bugs related to that process.

Tried the factory reset. After a few attempts, the results are the same. It cycles through the buttons and then the OOMA button flashes while all 6 of the right side buttons (2x2x2) are solid red now. I reconnect to modem to my router, bypassing the OOMA Hub, and all works fine again. Do you think my hub has kicked the bucket.

What is the status of the link lights on the ooma modem port when connected to your modem? Should be solid green, blinking amber.
