Re: Ethernet Cable
A standard Ethernet cable will work just fine. I have three Ooma systems, two Telo's and an original core system. I use a variety of standard cables with each of them. Most have 1.5' cables but I have used a standard 20' cable with no problems. Also, welcome to Ooma and to the forum. You're going to like it here.

Re: Ethernet Cable
Thank you very much for the info . I just upgarde all my cables yesterday to CAT-7 so as to be a little ahead of the nightmare of always have to upgrade something . Next diving into Windows 8 . Again great phone service and hope it remains . Mark this one SOLVED !
Re: Ethernet Cable
Do yourself a favor and replace the supplied ethernet cable with a short, spare cat-5 or 6 that you may have lying around. The supplied cable was very problematic for me during setup today. Once replaced, I was up and running in minutes.

Re: Setting ooma telo up beind router
Everyone seems to be forgetting one thing: setting up Ooma BEHIND the router results in phone call traffic NOT being prioritized. Which means, and I've verified this for my own benefit several times, that phone call quality WILL SUFFER, and if you have 15+ devices on your home-biz network like I do, quality will suffer BADLY.
Re: Setting ooma telo up beind router
I have never experienced the sort of issues you describe. On the other hand, with Ooma in front of the router I had many connectivity issues. Most decent routers offer Quality of Service settings where you can prioritize traffic. If your ISP bandwidth is very low this may come in handy, though I have not found it necessary.
Re: Setting ooma telo up beind router
I've had ooma for about 4 years and I have always had ooma behind the router - hooked it up and it just worked, but hated to plug into the HOME port to access the setup screen (not that I ever do that anyway). It bugged me that I could not get to the setup page over my network.
