Who is the most brutal drug kingpin?
Pablo! By far. He will go down as one of the biggest and most brutal drug kingpins in history. Pablo made killings more personal whereas El Chapo seemed to make killings more about quantity. Both ways certainly got the point across effectively. However, Pablo did seem to move towards killing in mass quantities towards the end in Columbia. There were mass casualties daily. It seems like once a person is responsible for a certain amount of deaths, the quantity really doesn’t matter. I am sure if Pablo believed 1,000 men in one town betrayed him, he would have no problem killing all 1,000…but again, that was towards the end. El Chapo took brutality to a whole new level, where your family and friends would be murdered too. Either way, when it gets to that point of mass casualties for any drug kingpin, I think it is safe to say the DEA is about to pounce.
Who reported Pacho back then?

Is Narcos a Hollywood show?
Another thing that has been well explained in previous answers is that Narcos is a United States, Hollywood version. This is the caption at the beginning of the show: “Magical realism is defined as what happens when a highly detailed, realistic setting is invaded by something too strange to believe. There’s a reason magical realism was born in Colombia.” (Magical realism actually traces back to Germany, but that’s not the topic). This is problematic, because it’s taking true, horrible events and fictionalizing them. That’s one thing. The other is that the whole story turns around Escobar and the DEA efforts. It’s the Colombian people that suffered under Escobar, it’s the Colombian people who brought him down in the end while facing direct retaliations in their place of birth, and it’s the Colombian people that now have to live with the bad reputation Escobar gave them. Escobar was not Colombia; Escobar was at war with Colombia. Although the DEA certainly played a role, the victory is a Colombian one and once again, it’s hurtful that Colombia went through such a difficult healing process only to witness international fascination for Escobar, what’s more with plain disregard for those who dared to oppose him and died doing so, paving the way to his final fall.
