Jesús y sus hermanos
7 Después Jesús recorrió la región de Galilea. Quería alejarse de Judea, donde los líderes judíos estaban tramando su muerte; 2 pero se acercaba el tiempo judío del Festival de las Enramadas, 3 y sus hermanos le dijeron:
Jesús enseña abiertamente en el templo
10 Pero después de que sus hermanos se fueron al festival, Jesús también fue, aunque en secreto, y se quedó fuera de la vista del público. 11 Los líderes judíos lo buscaron durante todo el festival y no dejaron de preguntar a la gente si alguien lo había visto. 12 Se oían muchas discusiones acerca de él entre la multitud.
Jesús promete agua viva
37 El último día del festival, el más importante, Jesús se puso de pie y gritó a la multitud: «¡Todo el que tenga sed puede venir a mí! 38 ¡Todo el que crea en mí puede venir y beber! Pues las Escrituras declaran: “De su corazón, brotarán ríos de agua viva”»[ e].
División e incredulidad
40 Algunos de la multitud, al oír lo que Jesús decía, afirmaron: «Seguramente este hombre es el Profeta que estábamos esperando»[ g]. 41 Otros decían: «Es el Mesías».
Jesus Goes to the Festival of Tabernacles
7 After this, Jesus went around in Galilee. He did not want[ a] to go about in Judea because the Jewish leaders ( A) there were looking for a way to kill him. ( B) 2 But when the Jewish Festival of Tabernacles ( C) was near, 3 Jesus’ brothers ( D) said to him, “Leave Galilee and go to Judea, so that your disciples there may see the works you do.
Jesus Teaches at the Festival
14 Not until halfway through the festival did Jesus go up to the temple courts and begin to teach. ( M) 15 The Jews ( N) there were amazed and asked, “How did this man get such learning ( O) without having been taught?” ( P)
Division Over Who Jesus Is
25 At that point some of the people of Jerusalem began to ask, “Isn’t this the man they are trying to kill? ( AA) 26 Here he is, speaking publicly, and they are not saying a word to him.
Unbelief of the Jewish Leaders
45 Finally the temple guards went back to the chief priests and the Pharisees, who asked them, “Why didn’t you bring him in?”
