You might find you get a better answer by going in early or on a slow day. What I did at my local theater was go in to a matinee when the theater was very slow, I got there early and asked to see the stuff they use to pop the corn. They had no problem grabbing the tub and showing it to me.

I emailed cinemark recently and was told their popcorn and butter was gluten free. Like within the last 6 months. I can't speak for other theaters though, and you could always check to see if it's still current. I'll look for my email.

I did find my email, and it was from January. I have emailed them again to verify that the information is still correct. I'll post if I hear anything.

They gave me all the ingredients when I went there with my family. So Metrolux theaters are gluten free popcorn, popping oil (coconut & corn), and even the liquid butter type topping. ) No one could tell me it was gluten free, but with the list of ingredients and suppliers I was able to figure it out! Thanks all! And Eclipse was a great movie!

Just in case anyone else is looking, I received a reply from Cinemark today and the popcorn, cooking oil and buttery topping are all gluten free.

This question comes up from time to time, and if my memory is correct, there has never been a verified case of gluten in either the popcorn itself or the fake-butter topping.
