I’m 70. I started keto on 5 February this year, primarily because a doctor at the chest clinic said changing my diet (excluding sugar/carbs) would help eliminate a cough I’ve had ‘forever’. My daughter in the UK does keto so she steered me through the early days. Within 2 weeks the cough had stopped, but also most of my joint pain had gone.

Ten weeks ago my annual wellness check included lab work, indicating my fasting glucose was in the insulin resistance category. Never one to ignore an opportunity to allow my OCD to flourish, I started a low carb (less than 50g/day) and limited my sugar intake to 20g a day. Also subscribed to a great nutrition app so I log everything.
No Longer Obese
I went to the doctor today and got told for the first time in who knows how many years that I'm no longer "obese." I'm still overweight and still have work to do, but I've lost over 40lbs since January 2021. I'm not sure how much keto had to do with that vs.

TLDR: Went for a brief physical and was really surprised to see I lost weight rather than gained.
