I know the Star Kist selects has the "solid light" that is compliant. It comes packed in olive oil or water and the ingredients are tuna, salt, and water or olive oil. I have found it in normal grocery stores.

There is a canned tuna brand called "wild Planet"... the only ingredient is albacore tuna, no water, salt or oil added.
BratKat
Wild Planet is really good-- it has a little natural tuna oil in it which I much prefer to other added oils. As far as the routine grocery store tuna, virtually every one has pyrophosphate in it. I prefer to avoid that. The Starkist and Bumblebee low sodium albacore doesn't have it (or the soy that is in most tuna, also)--

I'm sure this has been previously discussed, but what's the stance on canned fish. I bought some albacore tuna from Costco and the listed ingredients are: Tuna, water, salt and phytophosphate (or something to that extent.) I'm assuming that last one is a preservative. Is that okay or should I avoid canned tuna and canned meat in general?
Tom Denham
I've never noticed that particular sciencey name ingredient, but because it is not one of the known bad things, you can eat it. I eat canned salmon, tuna, and sardines frequently.
redhotlizzard
Whole foods has their own 365 brand of canned tuna that's roughly 1.50 a can (same as most grocery stores/convenience stores) that only has tuna, water, salt listed (no soy!!!). Soy is the major problem I've found in canned tuna so far.
