its not a big deal it just means that your going to have to under fill it to be safe#N#or use a scale if you have one this would probley be the best option#N#usually the "spitter" valve is used as the measure#N#I think most tanks weight 80lbs empty and 170 full

MarkC

Hi Derek,#N#I'm a full time fire guy and HazMat operator, degree in fire protection and safety technology. I am not a preachy kind of guy and so I am not going to preach...#N#but you've definitely got to measure your quantity somehow, either by weighing it or by some other method, and not fill over 80% capacity.

forgemaster

Bentiron1946

I had my big bottle tested and fitted with a new valve this past year. it was 15 or so years old, test and valve were cheaper than an new bottle. It sure lasts a long time on the BBQ.lol

Larzz

As I said, with proper training and tools. Go for it.#N#Local rules must be different in your area. They laughed at me when I asked them about filling my bottles on site. With out a vent, you will properly need a pump to fill the 100# tank. It will only fill partially, until the pressures equalize in the tanks.

pkrankow

Since you are going to your supplier with the tank, see about having the valve updated. It should be reasonably priced, then everything will operate the same.#N#Phil
