BIA involves having a painless electrical signal transmitted through your body.

How much should I weigh to be a 5 foot tall woman?

For women, the ideal body weight calculation starts with 100 pounds for the first 5 feet of height, then you add 5 pounds for each additional inch. If you're under 5 feet tall, subtract 2 pounds for each inch under 5 feet. Using the equation, a 5-foot, 4-inch tall woman would have an ideal weight of 120 pounds: IBW = 100 + (4 x 5) = 120.

What does it mean when your waist is bigger?

If you have a larger waist, it means you have too much visceral fat, an unhealthy type of fat that surrounds your organs and pushes your belly outward. An abundance of visceral fat can increase your risk for heart disease and other health problems. If you're a woman, your waist circumference shouldn't be more than 35 inches, and if you're a man, try to keep it below 40 inches.

How to find the ideal weight of an object?

Weight is the force of gravity on an object. To find your "ideal" weight you can use a spring scale or a spring balance to find it. Remember that it is measured in Newtons (N). If what you meant was mass, then use a normal scale. Mass is essentially the amount of "stuff' in an object. It is measured in kg, g etc.

How to find weight when you already know the mass?

Article Summary X. To find weight when you already know the mass, use the formula weight = mass times gravitational acceleration. Remember that on the surface of the earth, gravitational acceleration is always 9.8 m/s^2, so simply plug in the mass and multiply it by 9.8 to get the weight in newtons.

What is the weight of an object?

The weight of an object is the force of gravity exerted on that object. The mass of an object is the amount of matter it has, and it stays the same wherever you are, regardless of gravity. That's why an object that has 20 kilograms of mass on earth also has 20 kilograms of mass while on the moon, even though it would only weigh 1/6 as much.

Why does the scale measure weight?

It measures weight, because it measures the force gravity exerts on an object. But since we know what the gravitational constant is on Earth, we can convert that weight into mass (and many scales simply show the mass because they're calibrated to do so). Thanks!

How to convert weight into mass?

1. Use the formula "w = m x g" to convert weight into mass. Weight is defined as the force of gravity on an object. Scientists put that sentence into an equation by writing w = m x g, or. w = mg. Since weight is a force, scientists also write the equation as F = mg. F = symbol for weight, measured in Newtons, N.

What does F mean in math?

F = symbol for weight, measured in Newtons, N. m = symbol for mass, measured in kilograms, or kg. g = symbol for gravitational acceleration, expressed as m/s2, or meters per second squared. If you're using meters, the gravitational acceleration at the earth's surface is 9.8 m/s 2.

How to avoid confusing mass and weight?

Avoid confusing mass and weight. The number one mistake people make on these problems is confusing mass and weight. Remember that mass is the amount of "stuff" in an object, which stays the same no matter where you move it. Weight measures the force of gravity on that "stuff," which changes if you move through space.

How to know your ideal weight for height?

It is really useful to know your normal weight for height. For example, if you know your ideal weight for height, you can determine how much weight you need to lose or gain for optimal health. Suppose your weight for height is not beyond the normal weight range, but is close to its maximal or minimal values. In this case, you will be able to correct opportunely your nutrition or physical activity so as to remain in the limits of normal weight for height. However, it is good to take into account that only your doctor can recommend your ideal weight for height. If, after the calculation with weight for height calculator, you get the result that your weight for height is out of normal weight range, it may be merely reason to consult your doctor.

Can a doctor recommend your weight for height?

However, it is good to take into account that only your doctor can recommend your ideal weight for height. If, after the calculation with weight for height calculator, you get the result that your weight for height is out of normal weight range, it may be merely reason to consult your doctor.

As you can see bu the previous responses, there are different algorythms in the literature for the estimation of body weight. I would look at different options and try the ones that would be more suited for my population, and then look at the ones with the highest R2 and lowest standard errors (SRMSE) of the predictive regression equations..
