2002 the end era of NON-GPS

Got my first four door in 1998. Awesome vehicle. Got second one because wife wrecked our first Cavilier. Bought a used 2092 with 82,000+ miles. Still starts on first turn of key. Now has 207,000, and smoke a bit, but is in storage. Hope to rebuild soon. Reliable vehicle.

I own a 2002 and 2004

These cars have been basically bullet proof. Continue to run with very little issues. The 2004 has had a fan switch replaced but is otherwise original. The 2002 has had the air conditioner replaced and several other issues but nothing that keeps it from getting from here to there.

theyre ok

i had this car for around 7 years. it was a decent car in terms of reliability. nothing major besides the ac compressor blew around 3 times. it was a decent car. it got me where i wanted it to go. but i prefer my 07 yaris over this

Great little car

Great starter car. We purchased this little used car for our grandson. No big bells or whistles, easy keeper and low mileage!! Sold it!! Along with the great salesman Mr. Hawk.

I've had mine for 18 years!!

I love my car. It's got 133k miles on it. Only just recently have I had to replace the starter. I went 16 years without any issue. Only taking it to garage for upkeep and oil change. Although I have a new car, I still kept this one and still drive it occasionally. I'm waiting for it to become a classic car. I want to be one of those people

First car i ever owned And best deal

the Chevy Cavalier as a whole is an amazing car there cheap but reliable for the time you take care of them! I bought my 2002 cavalier with 132,000mi already on it in 2015-2016 from my sister for $400 I am still driving it today however unless you stay on top of potential problems this car isn't for you.

Most reliable car I owned

Great on milage, minimal repairs, owned a cavalierm sports model from 2003 to Nov 2019, when I was t boned and car was totalled. Broke my heart to give her up. 140000 miles on her and still running until then. No issues except normal wear and tear. Wish they were still on the market.

Ole Reliable

My parents bought the 2005 Cavalier sedan 4 door brand new in 2004 and I am driving it today in 2021 with little to no issues. About 215k miles on it. Keep up with oil changes, tires, brakes etc. and you are all set with this car. If you are buying it used, I suggest you always ask for the Carfax and get it checked out by a mechanic first.

Most reliable car ever!

I’m only 16, so I was looking for a cheaper car and found this one off a guy down the road, he drove it to Iowa from Texas so it had no rust but we were worried that it wouldn’t start in the winter, even when the temp hit below -20°F it still started everyday!! It has an amazing stereo system and mine has automatic windows.

Good second car

I have 112xxx MI on this car with little $ maintenance. Speedometer failed but was under warranty. A few low $s general maintenance and that it! No major costs yet!

Great little car

This is a great little car this is my third one. I wish I could find another one. Simple to repair. Reasonably priced. Parts easily available.

Most reliable car I own

Owned this car from factory with 13 miles, now has 138,000 miles & 14 yrs later later still going strong. Have drove all over US & this car handles great on highways. Run pure synthetic oil & the only major cost was replacing all gauges. Keep good tires Michelin or Goodyear & have had no problems in snow or rain.

I got the most out of it I could

I had this car from 2011 to 2019. When I bought it it had about 50,000 miles on it and it had 111,000 on it when I got into the accident that totalled it. The interior dash cracked from the heat.

Worst car I've owned

The motor is made out of aluminum. Very easy to blow a head gasket, its not a reliable car unless the person who owned it before you too very good care of the car and motor. Other than the kind of motor they put in Cavaliers which are trash , they are pretty decent cars with very good gas mileage.

Lots of problems

rebuilt transmission, steering gear, heater core, 3 instrument clusters, 2 alternators, bad brakes, bad spark plug wires, bad strut mounts, mystery problem with voltage idiot light and digital odometer display

224,000 miles and just getting started

I acquired this car from my son after turning my 4 door car over to my children for their family use. I immediately noticed the 35 mpg plus highway gas mileage with the 4 speed automatic transmission. The air is ice cold in the summer & very warm in the winter. Visibility, ride & handling is very good.

This Car is awful!

I've had this cavalier for 2 years now and I just cant get it out of the shop. Besides it being ugly and small, the car has had bad brakes, bad spark plugs put in, very bad gas milage, engine mount problems, alignment problems, bad computer system, oil leaks, cracked air seals, not to mentino all the other problems i've fixed.

Freakin sweet

Bought this car off of a friend for 500 bones as a beater car (I hate car loans! never again!) to get to work and back. Got the car at 230,000 miles, now have 245,000 and still runs like a champ! Starts funny, struts are messed up, but still runs great like the first day we signed the title over.

The BEST FUN Car I've ever had

My favorite car WAS a '67 GTO convertible but when money got tight, it squeezed me even more for repairs & gas. When replacement parts gave in, then it was time to find something 1/3 the cost. Then in 1999, I found IT. All fun, no misery, reliable, dealer support A++ This is an AUTOMATIC transmission

Best Chevy

I am a car ASE mechanic of over 20 years. This is a good family car.The best Chevy sedan I have seen in years. Good reliability, good quality. I dont care what JD Power says, it's the best sedan yet.

the car is a Beast

i couldnt have asked for a better first car, the cavelier gets a crappy rap but its really a decent, reliable car. mine has just gotten over the 100,000 mile mark and it hasent given me any problems. just like any car if you treat it right and take good care of it youll get the maximum preformance.

Clutch Problems

I would like to warn owners of a problem with the hydraulic clutch in the 2005 Chevy Cavalier. The line from master cylinder to slave cylinder may be rubbing on the farm and is wearing through and one day you will step on the pedal and it will go right to the floor and stick there, leaving the engine engaged to the transmission.

Great little car

Bought this due to divorce and great choice. Gas mileage is terrific especially when gas was over $3/gal, so little spent on that. Normal wear. Just oil changes and new tires and brake pads in year 5. Easy to park in those tight places. No one wants to steal it cuz its plain-I like that!

Great little car

Second owner of car. Bought in 2011 with 60k miles. I now have 167k. All guages were broke (VERY common and they never recalled it). Don't spend the $500 for the new assembly it will just break again. Buy individual motors on Amazon ($25 for 6) and sodder them on, and set guages. They've been working perfectly since.
