I have a 12" 'bar' on my peninsula and the granite people said it would need some kind of support, like brackets. Anything beyond 10" they said. So I'd assume that your 15" could be supported by something, but 27" seems extreme. Maybe it could be done with rodding? Not sure. Don't rely on the KD, talk to a granite place.
