Moka pot victory
Just bought a little 3 cup Bialetti Moka pot to play around with. I used to be a barista and really miss my daily Americano, though I do treat myself a couple times a month.
Preheating Moka Pot water was terrible for me
Busted out the old Moka Pot which I've used a half dozen times in 20 years. I used Hoffmann's approach where the water is preheated. It came out awful. I mean undrinkably bad. I nearly threw out the moka pot but then tried it withOUT preheating the water.
Fellow Ode, my thoughts for Chemex
I went back and forth on whether or not to buy the Ode for use with my chemex. It also wasn't clear based on reviews whether it would be a good fit for me or not, as most people talk about it in relation to the v60 and not being fine enough. So I wanted to provide my very quick thoughts for others who might be in the same boat.
FP - Why do we grind coarse?
I was wondering why is the original recipe with for the FP a coarse grind? Since I tried the Hoffmann method out I'm totally lost on this. I can't say I like it more always but some coffees seem to be doing better that way due to the increased acidity and clarity.
