The block heater will only heat the coolant up to a certain temp then it will just maintain that temp. It wont hurt to leave it plugged in at all.

thanks for the info...ive been sitting in 25 degrees for about 4 hours. Oil temp isnt over 100 (not registering on gadge) but water is 125. I guess its doing its job then. Will the block heater allow me to start it when the outside temp is bellow 0 or will i need to idle then?

I gotta replace my block heater soon. I love it at home, just plug in and fire up the next morning. Anything under 40 i plug in when im down for more than a working day, nothing excessive about that
