Most Disney hotels do not have fitness centers. If they do, their gyms are typically small. Animal Kingdom Lodge falls into the latter category — its gym is nicely equipped with modern cardio and weight-lifting machines, but the room is tiny for a resort of this size.
How far is to Animal Kingdom Lodge?
It would be (maybe 1.5 miles), except there is NO walking path from Animal Kingdom Lodge to Animal Kingdom. Walking from AKL to AK would require walking on and crossing Osceola Parkway. Therefore, either drive, or take the bus. It is a very short trip.
How late do Disney pools stay open?
You will be thrilled to know that on average, pools at most Disney Resort Hotels are open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.. I recommend checking with the front desk once you check in for exact pool hours, since the hours may vary, depending on the time you are visiting.

I don't know of any resort that has the main pool (also known as the feature pool) open 24 hours a day. However, a lot of resorts have small leisure pools (also known as quiet pools) that are open 24 hours a day. During my last family visit, we stayed at Port Orleans Riverside.
Is pool hopping allowed at Disney resorts?
In most cases, you can not pool hop at Disney World. Resort pools are a perk meant to be enjoyed by the guests staying at that particular resort. In order to ensure that resort guests can enjoy their pool without overcrowding, Disney only allows guests staying at that resort to use the pool.

A kids splash park is one of those great areas that you will find at the Sumawati Springs pool. Both pools have a water slide. Large Water Slides: There are 2 Water Slides at the Disney Animal Kingdom Resort. At the Uzima Pool, the water slide is 67-feet long and at the Sumawati Pool the water slide is much longer at 128-feet. Kids Water Slides: There are not any water slides at the kids water splash park, the Uwanja Camp, but there are a couple of small regular slides.

Both pools have a water slide but the water slide at the Samawati Pool is a full 128-feet in length. On top of the water slide being almost twice the length, there is also a Kids Splash area, Uwanja Camp. This water play area has great paces to keep the kids cooled off and playing with other kids their own size.

Animal Kingdom Lodge opened its doors in 2001. It is the only Disney resort that has views of animals from its guestrooms! On a typical day, guests might see zebras, giraffes, Ankole cattle, and okapi just to name a few. This giraffe was seen just outside of our balcony of our Savannah view room!
