how does a tigerloop work

by Donnie Orn Published 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago

The Tiger Loop works by the oil pump in the burner creating suction to the Tiger Loop. This suction spins the internal disc in the Tiger Loop and this creates suction on the fuel line to the fuel tank.

What is tigerloop®?

In that way, Tigerloop® combines the performance of a two-pipe system with the safety and simplicity of a one-pipe system and still does a better job of removing air bubbles than either option. Are there any alternatives? While Tigerloop® is a common de-aeration system, we also stock models from GOK which perform the same function.

Where should the tigerloop® be installed?

The Tigerloop® should generally be installed as close to the burner as is practical, although it is important not to expose it to temperatures of over 140°F (60°C). Ensure that the Tigerloop® is mounted upright, and use oil resistant lines between the pump and the Tigerloop® OFTEC recommend it should be mounted outside.

What is the difference between tigerloop® and Gok?

While Tigerloop® is a common de-aeration system, we also stock models from GOK which perform the same function. The GOK models may not feature the famous Tigerloop branding, but we believe they offer a great alternative at a great price-point. If you have any questions about Tigerloop or GOK models, feel free to give our sales staff a call!

Why do you need a Tigerloop?

The Tigerloop® allows you to place the oil tank below the level of the burner. Air bubbles that are released in the oil due to the vacuum in the system are automatically and continuously removed thanks to the Tigerloop®.

How does an oil de-aerator work?

De-aerator is used to remove any dissolved oxygen in the feed water. The oxygen if not removed, may lead to corrosion of the internal parts of the system. Thus a de-aerator completely removes the air and vapour from the system, which helps in reducing the maintenance of the system.

How does a fire valve work?

This valve is installed in the fuel line that supplies your furnace. The capillary tube contains a liquid. If the temperature of your furnace goes above the level expected for that furnace the liquid in the capillary tube expands. This causes the valve to shut which in turn closes off the fuel supply to the furnace.

Can Tigerloop be fitted inside?

The Tiger Loop Bio removes air from heating oil and can be fitted internally or externally.

Where do you fit a Tigerloop?

The Tiger Loop is installed next to the boiler and still has a single fuel line from the fuel tank to the Tiger Loop incorporating a filter and fire stop valve. Then, from the Tiger Loop to the boiler burner there are two fuel lines. The Tiger Loop works by the oil pump in the burner creating suction to the Tiger Loop.

What is the purpose of de aeration?

Deaeration is used to remove dissolved corrosive gases from plant water streams. The most important application is the removal of oxygen from boiler feedwater systems. A dissolved gas can be removed from water by reducing the partial pressure of that gas in the atmosphere contacting the liquid.

How do you test a fire valve?

A safe and reliable unit to test if a fire valve cuts off correctly. Simply set the unit to the required temperature using the adjustable dial, and when the fire valve tester is ready to use a green light will come on to indicate that the temperature has been reached.

Can you reset a fire valve?

The sensor and capillary are connected via the valve and cannot be detached. The reset button, at the base of the valve head can be pressed to reset the valve. To shut off the valve, pull the reset button with the toggle.

Where should fire valves be located?

Fire valves A fire valve is an essential safety feature of a fuel supply installation, which will stop the supply of fuel in the event of a fire or an overheat situation occurring at the appliance. The valve should be located outside the building, before the point of entry, and be activated by a remote sensor.

Can a Tiger Loop fail?

Within Tigerloop® itself is a security chamber with a safety float meaning that even in the event of a failure in the device, it is impossible for oil to leak from it.

Does an oil tank need to be higher than the boiler?

Raising the tank so that the bottom outlet is higher than the boiler inlet will allow gravity to feed the fuel directly to the boiler.

Does an oil furnace need a return line?

Things You'll Need The two-line fuel system on an oil-fired furnace consists of a supply line and a return line. The supply line delivers fuel oil from the holding tank to the fuel pump. The return line sends excess oil not used by the furnace back to the oil tank.

Looking for advise. Away to install a tigerloop system into my oil heating pipework but been told by various people to have it outside, some say inside, other say high up the wall and other say low down at same height as the burner. Looking for some honest advise.? HAve had a plumber out to look at the job but wanted a fortune to install.

"WARNING: INSTALLATION MUST BE PERFORMED BY A QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN FAMILIAR WITH OIL HEATING SYSTEMS, EQUIPPED WITH THE PROPER TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT, FAMILIAR WITH ALL GOVERNING CODES AND ORDINANCES, AND LICENSED BY THE PROPER AUTHORITY WHERE APPLICABLE. INSTALLATION BY AN UNQUALIFIED PERSON CAN RESULT IN HAZARDS TO THAT PERSON AND OTHERS.

well i know nothing about oil but when it mentions fusible links etc it sounds like a pro is needed, as said training aint cheap, even if the parts are

Agree with ProDave simple to fit just follow the instructions, but recommend you bend the pipework instead of using elbows.

How does a tigerloop work?

Tigerloop® sits between the oil tank and the burner in an oil heating system, so that all oil passes through it. It continuously and automatically removes air from the oil before passing it to the burner, so that bubble-free oil is burnt, eliminating poor combustion, noise, damage, soot, and smoke.

What is a tigerloop?

Tigerloop®, made by Tigerholm, is a type of oil de-aerator, a product that removes air bubbles from an oil heating system. If you’re unsure how that works or why it’s beneficial, then this guide is for you. Here we will explain the causes and problems of air in an oil heating system, how a Tigerloop® works to remove air and how that benefits you, ...

Why is my Tigerloop making a noise?

Noisy Oil Pump. If you are getting noise from the oil pump, this too could be caused by suction leakage, so check your lines and connections.

How does an oil heating system work?

Any oil heating system will consist of a reservoir or tank of oil and a burner, with a suction line between the two to draw oil from the tank into the burner. Oil, like any liquid, will naturally have air dissolved in it and, whenever this oil enters negative pressure, some of the air will be released from the oil as bubbles, much like when you open a bottle of coke and all the carbon dioxide is released as bubbles.

What are the benefits of Tigerloop?

The obvious benefits of Tigerloop® are a reduction in all the problems that air and gas bubbles cause: Tigerloop®, therefore, provides cleaner and more efficient combustion, reduced damage, less wear and tear, and less soot.

Why does air enter a tank?

Sometimes air enters the system for much more straightforward reasons, though, such as a loose connection or a tank being allowed to run dry. Either way, almost any system will eventually have bubbles of air and other gases form within it.

Can you clean a Tigerloop?

A Tigerloop® is a completely sealed system that you should not attempt to open, as doing so will destroy the device. All that is required is to occasionally wipe with a dry cloth. You should never clean with any cleaning fluids or alcohol as these will damage the Tigerloop®.
