You could also pull the plug from the factory alarm control module thus taking it totally out of the system. It is behind the glove box (the furthest module on the left... attached with 2 screws.

There are switches on the door lock cylinders that are supposed to shut the alarm off when you use the key,but they go bad allot. you could try unlocking the passenger door first, since that one usually gets less use and is less likely to go bad. Otherwise you can disconnect the alarm module, it is located behind the glove box.

there are many sensors and and each airbag have sensors so you will have to get it scanned to know where to start. just a note air bag parts can be very expensive so check out your local salvage yard. they can save you hundreds. good luck paul

My 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee had the same problem. Over heated when standing still. Took it to dealer and they could not find any problem with cooling fan. After doing my own investigation I found out that the electric cooling fan would begin to seize up after about 1hr. of operating.
