Step 1

Unplug the Maytag clothes dryer from the power source. Remove the two screws on the front panel. You will find them approximately 4 inches from the bottom, under the beveled edge.

Step 2

Pull the bottom of the front panel toward you until the clips on the top of the panel release.

Step 3

Carefully disengage the wires from the door switch and set the door aside.

Step 1

Unplug the Maytag clothes dryer from the power source. Remove the four screws. You will find one in the hinge on the upper right, one in the hinge on the lower right and one opposite each hinge.

Step 2

Lift the door slightly and pull back. The door and the hinges will disengage. Put the door aside.

Step 3

The front panel of the Maytag clothes dryer is shaped like a goal post. Grasp the skinny, upper sides and wiggle them back and forth to unclip the panel. Pull the skinny ends of the front panel toward you, lifting it off the bottom clips. Set the front panel aside.

Step 1

Unplug the electrical cord of the Maytag Bravos dryer from the electrical outlet before taking the dryer apart.

Step 2

Locate the screws on the bottom of the front panel and unfasten the screws with a screwdriver, lifting the panel up from the bottom and detaching it from the clips on the top of the panel.

Step 3

Tilt the front panel forward and unfasten the door switch connector from the metal prongs on the back of the front panel by hand, setting the panel off to the side.

Step 4

Find the screws on the underside of the top lid in the front and remove the screws with a screwdriver, setting them out of the way.

Step 5

Lift the top lid up, flipping it back so it rests on the rear hinges and locate the shroud cover below the drum, unfastening the screws that hold the cover in place with a screwdriver.

Step 6

Take the shroud cover off the dryer and locate the idler arm and motor at the bottom of the cabinet, moving the idler arm forward to relieve the tension on the belt.

Step 7

Remove the belt from around the idler arm and motor pulleys as well as from around the drum.
