I suggest you use a good conditioner in the bath and let it sit for a few minutes before you tackle it very slowly and gently with a comb while the conditioner is in her hair. When the hair is wet it is much more prone to damage and if the tangles are really bad then it will obviously hurt some trying to get them out so you have to be very patient.
