Simply change your mind and try to keep them nice and shiny. Spend a few hours carefully polishing and shining them. Go home Sunday night and come back the next weekend prepared to be blinded. They'll be nice and dark - and well on their way to a beautiful patina. Or...pee on 'em.

Oh--you won't trick the Gods by pretending you want them bright. They will only go dark if you truly want them to stay bright. I suggest hypnosis or find someone who wants them bright and put them in charge of all bronze hardware on the boat. That should do it.

John Lebens - who posts here sometimes - tried an interesting trick, that I'd never seen before. He coated newly polished bronze with "Penetrol". The notion is that is slows and evens out the development of the patina. Having seen his boat recently... I'd say it looks quite good. Maybe he'll comment more.
