No those gaps should not be there but who designed the kitchen I do not understand what you mean by mounting . Usually a DW slides in and at the front there is a place to attach it to the counter or to a piece of wood across the front like this and you also notice the very tiny gap on the side that the door covers.

In our last house there was a gap though not quite as large as you are showing. We had a beaded piece added to each side of the cabinet. That made it very tight.
