Mix two colors side by side, For example, take red and orange and mix each with water – the ratio should be 50/50 water to paint. Paint on the paper first using just orange the clean your brush. Then grab a little bit of red and mix it with your orange paint. Keep painting on the paper where you left off with the orange paint.

On a palette, drop a bit of water and concentrated paint right next to it. Dab you brush into the water just a bit and make a few strokes on the paper.
