What is serving it right?

Serving It Right (SIR) is B.C.’s mandatory responsible beverage service training program. The program educates liquor licensees, managers and servers about the responsible sale and service of liquor. There are three steps to receiving your Serving It Right certification: The Serving It Right online exam costs $35 plus GST.

Generally, all licensees, managers and staff need a Serving It Right (SIR) certificate. Whether or not you need an SIR certificate, depends on your liquor licence type. You don't need SIR certification to get a liquor licence, but you need it to operate your business.
