But its prolly illegal to remove a safety device from the car. There are some universal units available. Nope, the law wasnt retroactive. Its a national thing. To the best of my knowledge, Cali is no different than the rest of the country for a change. Light trucks built 1994 or later are reqiured to have them too.

I really dont think they will notice,Seriously i would not even worry about it at all,If there is no third brake light then they only pay attention to the two regular brake lights,I would not worry about it at all.I have never even heard anything about anyone getting pulled over for no 3rd brake light,My thrid brake light dosnt work,I dont know why.I changed the bulbs too.Im starting to wonder if the hatchback leaks from the 3rd brake light because that would also explain them not working.I really dont know where the hatches leak from..
