Just about to fit my new toilet in my new bathroom and noticed that there is no overflow coming off the cistern. Does this mean it has an internal overflow that goes into the bowl? Can I just remove overflow pipe from wall and cover over the hole?
Hugh Jaleak
Modern toilets do have an integral overflow, it'll go straight into the pan under fault conditions. The external overflow is surplus to requirements, feel free to remove and fill hole if you so desire.

Thanks for your help mate. It will look so much better without the overflow pipe so its going.

not if it's a traditional syphon you won't as Pipe Dreams says you cant tell until you over fill or check in paperwork , mostly the internal overflow syphons are are lot lower than the top of the cistern itself and if you imagine the water level rising above the top of the syphon this is the point it would flush down the pan, if you feel that for the water to get this high would cause it to flow over sides of cistern you probably dont have internal flush syphon, can't imagine they are selling one without overflow hole that is not!! but then this is Wickes....
